Fortunately, Facebook allows you to delete a Facebook
posting. It's possible to erase a post on a computer, in a mobile app, or by
using a browser extension. The social network even has a feature called the
Manage Your Activity, which allows you to see what you've posted and remove the
offending material. It's also possible to report posts that break Facebook's
policies.
While it's possible to delete a Facebook posting, it's not
as easy as you might think. Facebook's servers can be slow during events such
as the Presidential election, which can make the process a little less than
smooth. Luckily, you can speed things up by changing your settings.
First, you'll need to locate the fabled "Delete"
icon. This is located in the lower right corner of your screen. Once you find
it, you'll be presented with a menu. This menu will allow you to delete posts
one at a time. If you're using an Android device, you'll need to hold your
finger on the Delete button until you see the menu pop up.
The menu will then provide you with the option to see all of
your posts, select the ones you'd like to delete, or hide the ones you don't.
You can also filter posts by date. This is a nice feature to have in case
you're trying to remove a post that's been up for a while. You'll also find the
best way to do this is to use the search bar to find the post you're looking
for.
You can also see what other posts you've been tagged in.
You'll find this in the Activity Log located in the lower right corner of your
screen. However, you can't see the name of the person who shared the post. You
can however, untag yourself from the post. This is the best way to delete a
post if you're concerned about privacy.
If you're feeling particularly snarky, you might consider
hiding the post. The Facebook app has a feature called "hide from
timeline" that will let you hide the post from your news feed. You can
also hide the post from your profile, but you'll have to be logged in as an
"Admin" to do so. You can also report posts that you believe to be in
violation of Facebook's privacy policies.
It's also possible to download or archive your posts. This
isn't as easy as it sounds, but you can do it using a mobile app or a browser
extension. If you're a particularly die-hard Facebook user, you may want to
download a copy of your most recent post before you hit "delete."
This way, you won't have to worry about losing any of your important Facebook
content. You can also choose to hide posts you've liked from your News Feed.
One of the best ways to do this is by using Facebook's
filter options. If you're unsure which filter is best for you, you can use the
filter wizard to select the best fit for you.
